A life devoted to paper
El Persa Ediciones was founded by José Cardona, El Persa, after years of collaborating with different publishers and taking part in the creation of other publishing projects.
In 1981, he decided to found his own publishing house and give it the name of the pseudonym by which he was already known: El Persa.
His initial aim was to publish mainly his own work and to turn publishing into a form of expression and, at the same time, his livelihood.
The art of building with paper
José Cardona (Valencia, 1943-2012) had been fond of paper models since childhood and studied at the School of Architecture in Barcelona.
His career combined decoration, cultural activities, and graphic and literary creation. From 1973 onwards, he specialised in what is known as ephemeral printing: paper models, colouring books, stickers, postcards and other paper publications.
A relationship between illustration, architecture and paper that would come to define much of El Persa's identity.
El Persa Ediciones since 1981
Since its creation, the publishing house has released different kinds of works, although paper models have held a leading place in its production.
Alongside its own publications, El Persa developed specific projects for companies and institutions. Some of them later had additional editions for members of CARPEP, the Artistic and Recreational Circle of El Persa Publications.
